Representation Theory:
I have chosen these personal images to represent myself and communicate how I would like to be viewed by others. For example the airplane symbol across the page suggests that I like to travel and visit new places, as it connotes adventure and freedom with the desire to explore, presenting me as someone who likes to go outside of my comfort zone to experience new things. This links to Stuart Hall's representation theory as I have selected images, symbols and colour to represent my identity, and showing my interests that I want the audience to associate with me.
Reception Theory:
Preferred meaning- The preferred meaning is that I am a creative and adventurous person who enjoys different activities such as art. Through my selection of images, the audience may view my artwork as a symbol of my creativity.
Negotiated meaning- A negotiated meaning could be due to the audience interpreting certain images differently than the preferred meaning. For example, the audience may see the airplane as the fact that I like to travel but do not understand my desire to visit new places and try new things.
Rejected meaning-An opposing meaning could be the audience disagreeing with the way I have represented myself. For example, they may think I have picked images based on only my favourite things and not on my actual interests.
